Dr Sameer Arbat was awarded “Young Achiever for Outstanding Contribution in Healthcare Award” at Global Nagpur Awards 2018 on 30th November. The ceremony was held at Persistent Systems, IT Park, Nagpur.

The awards were organized by non-profit organization Nagpur First to felicitate individuals who have made a major contribution in their respective fields. Nagpur First is a group involved in creating a platform for connecting local individuals and businesses to global businesses. The jury went through 400 nominations in various fields of IT, education, hospitality, startups, sports, healthcare, agriculture, arts and so on. The ceremony started with an introduction, followed by a session by previous awardees that have made a major contribution to the landscape of Nagpur city at local as well as a global platform. This was followed by the glittering award distribution ceremony. Other winners included Shri Shivkishan Agrawal, Founder Haldiram’s for Star Award and Hotel Radisson Blu for hospitality.

Dr. Sameer Arbat was awarded for his contribution towards healthcare and bringing advanced treatment in pulmonary medicine to Nagpur city. Dr. Sameer has received his training from Italy under Dr Stefano Gasparini who is one of the world authorities in Interventional Pulmonology. Dr Sameer Arbat is the first doctor to have Central India’s only complete Interventional Pulmonology setup with EBUS and Cryotherapy unit. He has performed more than 500 interventional procedures like Cryotherapy, EBUS, Endobronchial Debulking and Thoracoscopy including some very rare and interesting cases.

His achievements include many awards at National and International Conferences. He was among 7 doctors from all over India who were awarded the ICS Grant for Young Researcher for representing India at the ERS Congress 2018 at Paris. Dr. Sameer takes a keen interest in research and has more than 15 publications in national and international journals.

He has organized many National Conferences in Nagpur city and was instrumental in building Research Collaboration between Italian University and KRIMS Hospitals, Nagpur. Dr. Sameer is actively involved in creating public awareness on health issues and is a regular speaker on All India Radio and has many newspaper articles published to his name. “I believe that healthcare is undergoing a major evolution. The doctor is expected to provide good healthcare at an economic cost while maintaining the trust of the patient. The newer generation of doctors with advanced technology and a compassionate approach will play a crucial role in making Nagpur the next health capital ” stated Dr. Sameer Arbat on receiving the award. Dr. Sameer credits his success to the support from his family, teachers, friends and his team at KRIMS Hospitals.
